VmVault

Overview

White Space LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built VmVault as a utility application for iPhone. This policy explains how the app handles information. We are committed to transparency: VmVault is designed to keep your data entirely on your device and in your own iCloud Drive, under your control at all times.

Information the App Accesses

Voicemail Data

VmVault accesses the voicemails you choose to share into it in order to display, play, and archive them. This data — including audio recordings and any caller information or notes you add — is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Contacts

When you import a voicemail using the Share Extension, VmVault provides an optional “Select from Contacts” feature that lets you look up and attach a caller name from your device’s contacts. This access occurs only within the Share Extension at the moment you choose to use it. Contact information is used solely on your device for display purposes and is never transmitted, stored externally, or shared. You may decline this feature and enter caller information manually.

Profile Information

When you first open VmVault, you are asked to enter a first name, last name, phone number, and email address. This creates a local profile — shown in the app’s Account screen — that identifies your archive on your own device. Your phone number serves as the identifier for that profile and cannot be changed after setup. There is no account with us: no password, no login, no record on any server, and nothing registered with White Space LLC or anyone else. This information is stored locally on your iPhone and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can edit your name and email at any time from the Account screen, and resetting the app permanently removes this information from your device.

No Data Collection by Us

White Space LLC does not collect, receive, or store any information about you. We do not gather device identifiers, location data, usage analytics, or any other personal information. We do not use advertising SDKs, third-party tracking, or behavioral analytics tools. Because the app has no server component, there is nothing for us to collect.

The only exception is correspondence you initiate: if you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use that solely to respond to you and do not add it to any mailing list or share it with anyone.

How Data Is Stored

All data processed by VmVault is stored in two places, both under your exclusive control:

On your device: Voicemail audio files and metadata are stored locally in the app’s Documents directory and are included in your iPhone’s standard iCloud Backup if you have that feature enabled.

In your iCloud Drive: VmVault automatically saves a backup copy of each voicemail to a folder named “VmVault” in your personal iCloud Drive. These files belong entirely to you, are visible to you in the Files app and on iCloud.com, and are governed by your agreement with Apple. White Space LLC has no access to your iCloud Drive and cannot view, retrieve, or process any files stored there.

These backup copies are duplicates, not a live sync. Changes you make in the app after a voicemail is backed up — such as editing a note — are not automatically reflected in the backup copy.

We have no servers that receive, store, or process your data. We cannot access your data and have no visibility into its contents.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, share, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your data to any third party for any purpose. Because all data remains on your device or in your personal iCloud Drive account, there is no data held by us that could be shared.

Your Controls

Exporting your data: VmVault lets you export individual voicemails or selected groups of voicemails at any time via the iOS Share Sheet.

Deleting your data: You can delete individual voicemails within the app at any time; when you do, you can choose whether to also remove the backup copy from your iCloud Drive. You can also reset the app, which removes all data associated with VmVault from your device. Note that resetting the app does not delete backup copies already saved in your iCloud Drive — you can remove those yourself in the Files app. You may also delete the app entirely from your device.

Revoking permissions: You can revoke the app’s access to your contacts at any time through your iPhone’s Settings app under Privacy & Security → Contacts.

Children’s Privacy

VmVault is not directed at children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The content within the app is generated solely by users themselves. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at support@wsrl.com so we can address the situation appropriately.

Apple’s Data Practices

VmVault is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect certain data in connection with your use of the App Store and your device, such as crash logs and aggregated usage statistics, in accordance with Apple’s own Privacy Policy. We may receive anonymized, aggregate information from Apple (such as download counts) that cannot be used to identify individual users. We do not receive any personally identifiable information through Apple’s standard developer reporting tools.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with certain rights regarding your personal information. Because VmVault does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to us, there is no personal information held by White Space LLC that would be subject to a CCPA request. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may contact us at support@wsrl.com with any questions.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent legislation. Because VmVault does not collect, transmit, or process any personal data on our servers, White Space LLC does not act as a data controller or data processor with respect to your voicemail content or personal information. All data remains on your device or in your personal iCloud Drive account. If you have questions about your privacy rights, please contact us at support@wsrl.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes — for example, if a future version of the app introduces cloud functionality or third-party services — we will update this policy prior to releasing that version and will update the effective date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
